Kernel streaming (KS) services support kernel-mode processing of data streams for audio and for other types of continuous media. Conceptually, a stream undergoes processing as it flows along a data path containing some number of processing nodes. A set of related nodes is grouped together to form a KS filter, which represents a more-or-less independent block of stream-processing functionality. More complex functions can be constructed in a modular way by cascading several filters together to form a filter graph.
A typical audio adapter card might contain audio devices for playing a wave stream through a set of speakers, converting the audio signal from a microphone to a wave stream, and synthesizing sound from a MIDI stream. The adapter driver can wrap each of these audio devices in a KS filter that it exposes to the operating system. The operating system connects the filters to other filters to form filter graphs that process audio streams on behalf of application programs.
KS filters are connected together through their pins. A pin on an audio filter can be thought of as an audio jack. A client instantiates an input or output pin on a filter when the client needs to route a data stream into or out of that filter. In some contexts, the terms pin and stream can be used interchangeably.
The output pin of the upstream filter is connected to the input pin of the downstream filter. The data stream from the output pin must have a data format that the input pin can accept. A KS filter is implemented as a kernel-mode driver object that encapsulates some number of related stream-processing functions. The functionality can be implemented in software or in hardware. When installing a new NVIDIA MxM GPU module into a notebook often times the NVIDIA driver will not have that GPU + notebook combination specified in their driver’s .inf files. To get the newer GPU to work you will need to modify the .INF files of your NVIDIA drivers before installing them to add support for your specific notebook and GPU combination. Run the file you have downloaded (take note of the directory it will extract to) and wait for it to extract. After extracting the installer will attempt to install but will fail, this is ok, just close the installer.

Open Device Manager and right click on Microsoft Basic Display Renderer or something similar and click the Properties option and navigate to the Details tab.Click the Property drop down and select the Hardware Ids option. Copy the first value in the list of IDs and paste it into a blank notepad for later.
If there is no Microsoft Basic Display Renderer or similar device you either have something wrong with your Windows installation or BIOS settings preventing Windows from detecting or powering on the GPU. Its also possible have a defective GPU or the notebook is electrically not capable of working with your GPU.

Navigate to C:NVIDIADisplayDriver[VERSION][OS][LANG] and open the Display.Driver folder which is inside this directory.
Open the .inf file inside the Display.Driver folder which corresponds with the manufacturer of your laptop, There is a list of which .inf corresponds to which manufacturer below for reference. Mine is nvcvi.inf because I have a Clevo laptop.[5] Finding Device ID Group
Press CTRL+F on your keyboard and search for NVIDIA_SetA_Devices There will be one of these groups for every operating system supported by the driver, make sure you are modifying the group specific to your operating system, if your not sure you can do all of them. If you can not find it try searching for NVIDIA_Devices or something similar instead, user 4108317206 in the comments pointed out that NVIDIA may have changed it. [6] Formatting Hardware ID
You will now need to correctly format the Hardware ID that you copied to notepad earlier and add it to the group of text. Here is a color coded example of how to correctly format the IDs to add to the list. Make sure that the Section### part of the formatted IDs marked in green is the same as an already existing Device ID inside the .inf with a GPU Model Code that is the same as in your Hardware ID[7] Add New Hardware ID
Paste your formatted Device ID into the group of IDs (it shouldn’t matter where in the list) You may also want to paste the IDs into the new notepad document created earlier for future reference.
In the same file press CTRL+F and search for [Strings] You should see a group of strings similar to before. Paste the longer formatted string from before into the list and save the file.
[8] Install The Driver
You are now done modifying the driver and can install it, If you are running Windows 8 or higher you will need to boot with Driver Signature Enforcement disabled or the driver will fail to install. Inside the directory that the driver was extracted to you will see file named setup.exe Run it as an administrator and follow the onscreen instructions, if a pop-up comes up saying something about untrusted drivers make sure you click install anyway. If you have correctly modified your .INF files everything should go smoothly. You will need to do this for every new driver version so its a good idea to get the hang of it.

If the driver installs without issue but you get a black screen after reboot or games seem to not use your GPU correctly; either crashing on launch, extremely low FPS, or using integrated graphics, you may have chosen the incorrect section # to use. Try using a different section number. If you have tried other section numbers and the installed driver is still non-functional, you may need to also modify nv_dispi.inf. This is the .inf that the Nvidia Driver checks before moving on to the other manufacturer specific ones, it is generally used for desktop cards but MXM cards can be referenced in here as well. The modification process is nearly exactly the same, try creating a device ID with-out the Device Manufacturer and Model code first and add them later it still does not work. Finding the correct Section # here may be more difficult because there will be no similar hardware ID to reference, I recommend starting with Section001. Please only modify the nv_dispi.inf as a last resort.

^that resolved it for me.
As for the first one, I honestly had no idea which one resolved it. I clicked and installed Alienware On Screen Display 0.33.0.19 but it did not install properly in spite of the error going away.
I also upgraded the chipset using Intel’s chipset update utility:

^that resolved it for me.
As for the first one, I honestly had no idea which one resolved it. I clicked and installed Alienware On Screen Display 0.33.0.19 but it did not install properly in spite of the error going away.
I also upgraded the chipset using Intel’s chipset update utility:

Now, the Main installation screen will be displayed, and , depending on your settings, the driver could be properly configured for your card. You should know that improper configuration settings will make the driver partially functional. Probably TV tuner and TV audio won´t work as expected (if they work at all). Make sure you select the TV card model that is right for your capture board if you are asked to (just read the screen), and select the right TV tuner. If you don’t know the TV tuner model, you will have to try until you find one of them that works with your card (if it does not work, you won’t be able to switch TV channels).

So, the driver will try to autodetect the card model. If it displays a card name at the botton of the dialog, above the ’Next’ button, you can use the card ’Autodetected’ model setting. If it says you must pick a card model, you must do so. This is caused probably because your video capture card does not provide a reliable way to identify it (all the older Bt848 based cards have this problem, but nearly all new Bt878 based cards should be autodetected).
As said, you must also pick the Tuner model. This is important, because the wrong tuner type will probably make TV channel tuning impossible. You must be aware that on FlyVideo, AverMedia, Miro, Pinnacle , Voodoo and Hauppauge models, tuner model is autodetected, so, with those cards, you could let the driver autodetect it. For all the other capture cards you need to specify the correct tuner.
If you don´t know the correct tuner model, you can try to read the tuner model from the capture card itself (the aluminium box). If you can´t do that, you will have to use a trial and error method. I suggest that , in this case, you select a Phillips model based on the videonorm of your country. Remember that for Pal N Combination (Used in Argentina), you should select a NTSC tuner.
There are 3 checkboxes to check; the first one askes if there is a TDA9855 on board. You should leave it unchecked unless you have sound problems and you see/know that your card has one of those chips onboard.
The second one asks if your card has a FM tuner. Normally, you must check this if you were told your card was able to tune FM radio. Note that Miro, Pinnacle and VHX card owners MUST NOT check this. The driver knows about those special cards that need special parameters to work (because they can tune Radio, but using another specific tuner for that function).
The third checkbox, asks if you want to try to tune FM radio with the TV Tuner. This is possible for all cards that can´t normally tune FM Radio, but will give bad quality FM Mono. (Better to have it than not to have it).
That´s all, now press the ’Next’ button: The installation screen shows. Press ’Install’ button, and everything should be installed! - Good luck!

For those of you bashing the ZGF, I 100% agreed until yesterday when I was given an OCZ SSD. I threw that in and installed Win7, it’s running legitimately 10x faster than it was with a spinning drive on WinXP. I’ll be throwing a 1GB stick of RAM in it, at $5, there’s no reason not to. Then I’ll be adding an a/b/g/n WiFi adapter for the grand sum of $4.20. Honestly I’m happy with it with just the SSD.
The difference is INCREDIBLE. Once I up the RAM and add the better WiFi card, it should be pretty nice. In all honesty, I’d say it’s comparable to my Samsung with i3, 8GB Crucial, and 7200 spinning disc. The SSD sure makes a SERIOUS difference. My advice, if you’re unhappy with the performance of your ZG5, I highly suggest dropping the roughly $50 on an SSD. I will be using this a LOT more. Especially after I add theRAM and WiFi card.
I’ve also seen articles about putting a touchscreen screen into the ZG5. If I figure out how to do it and where to get one though, I do intend on giving it a shot. Would be a great little touchscreen Netbook at that point. My only wish was that I could swap out the board on the right with the USBs to have USB 3.0.Rob says. This has been a very useful site so I though I would post my experiences:I recently bought an Acer Aspire One A150 (1GB RAM, 120GB hard disk, Linpus Linux) – for you UK’ers Expansys are doing a good deal on these at the moment (£150 as of 7/7/2009).As it happened I played with the Linux desktop that came with it and was actually quite impressed. As part of this playing around I performed a Live Update.I wanted to install Windows 7 RC so after downloading the 32 bit version, I came to this very useful site to create the bootable USB disk (in my case I used a fast 4GB CompactFlash card in a USB card reader).Acer A150 Drivers Download For Windows 10 8.1 7 Vista Xp 32 Bit
This worked fine and, after booting from it on the Aspire One, I sucessfully installed Windows 7 (it even automatically detected the built in WiFi chipset).Because this was so successful, I bought another Aspire One A150 from Expansys and proceeded to try to install Windows 7 from the same CompactFlash card. This failed with a boot error from the Windows Boot Manager. This had me stumped for a while until I realised I hadn’t done a Live Update within the Aspire One’s Linux desktop. After letting the Live Update complete and rebooting to the CompactFlash card, Windows 7 installed successfully.In summary: do a Live Update in the Aspire One’s Linux environment first before trying the Windows 7 install (I am not sure why the Live Update causes a boot from the CompactFlash card in a card reader to work though).Jacou says.

VB 6.0 allows to invoke functions from DLLs with _stdcall only. But VB.NET allows to invoke functions _cdecl calling convention also.
In this article I provided 2 project files for interacting with the Microchip Full Speed USB Demo Board. These projects interact with the Microchip general purpose USB Driver. MPUSBAPI.DLL with _cdecl can be downloaded from Microchip directly. The other example uses _stdcall calling convention. For this the MPUSBAPI.DLL need to be rebuilt with _stdcall convention. Also refer to the previous article for more information on how to use the _stdcall DLL in VB 6.0. Also previous articles gives an idea from where to download the files.
NOTE: The _cdecl DLL contains underscore(_) prefixed to the funtion names. Where as the _stdcall DLL will not contain the underscore(_) prefixed.
To interact with Microchip USB demo board from a PC MPUSBAPI.DLL need to be used.
2. How Visual Basic.NET and Visual Basic 6.0 access DLLs, differences:
Visual Basic.NET is a complete new development environment that is based on the .NET framework. The VB.NET is a complete Object Oriented Programming language and it supports modernization of code extensively. Most of the basic keywords remained same, but there are many additional keywords. Being a full object oriented language, VB.NET supports features like inheritance, polymorphism, abstraction, and encapsulation. As far as declaring the functions to access functions in .DLL file is same as VB 6.0 syntax. The major difference with respect to VB 6.0 version of the example code is in place of VarPtr the member functions of System.Runtime.InteropServices.MarshalAgilent Technologies U2741a Initializing Driver Downloads need to be used. Marshaling is a mechanism used for converting/representing data between various platforms or environments in way that the content will never be lost. Inside the function the address of the first elements of the Byte arrays are passed to the Read and Write functions in the DLL.
4. VB6PICUSBDemo.vb:
This is the source code file that is generated when VB6PICUSBDemo.frm is ported to VB.NET. This file contains the actual example code on how to use the above functions. This ends the 3 article series on Visual Studio.NET. There is already one article available at www.piccoder.co.uk. So I am not touching the C# aspect.
